I actually wrote this a couple months after ID came out. I was wicked depressed and was just feeling like I was squandering a gift I was given. Initially, I wrote this verse as a standalone, with no other verses or hook or anything, kind of like a poem. I feel like if I’d added anything else, it would have sounded forced, and I didn’t want to take away from this one verse, which I’m extremely proud of. I’m glad Tijmen gave me a beat that fit the tone so perfectly.
